Have you ever been to a place with so much character, a place so powerful that you would wake up, shaken and eyes wide open? For me it was this one: I was thrilled, I wanted to jump and dance, I wanted to stay and live there. Barren rocks – no palm-trees, no white sand beaches, nothing of the tropical – Inishmore was beautiful, made from barren rocks!!! The Atlantic was raging, throwing its waves on the cliffs, but it was tired, you could see that… On the other side of the island it was peaceful though. You could spot some fatty seals there!
So, how do we get here? In the Galway Bay, which is in the west of Ireland, there is a group of three islands called Aran islands (Inisheer, Inishmaan and Inishmore). I visited the biggest of them, which is the last one of three – Inishmore. There are ferry services from Doolin and from Rossaveal as well as air transfers from Indreabhán Airport in Connemara by Aer Árann Islands lines. Inishmore has some of the highest cliffs in Europe. They are facing the Cliffs of Moher. What a blessed place – everywhere you look there is a breathtaking scenery.
The Warm Hole is a natural rectangular pool right next to the edge of the smaller cliffs in the west of the island. Redbull cliff diving took place here in 2012.
